Caught the awesome concert of Charlie Lim at the Esplanade Concert Hall with a stellar line-up of guest artists from The Great Wave, a new artist collective set to release collaborative works.

I do wish, deep down… that i can play music at this level, rock out with friends on stage by alas we all choose paths to our best knowledge and ability. Playing and making music is still a love of mine and i am glad to be able to watch these awesome folks rock out. Shout out to Adam Shah whom unfortunately i could not capture from where i was sitting - indus Gendi was fun times! And of course, ET for the chat after the concert… you bloody talented man. Looking forward to more amazing local music.

Had the opportunity to capture the Singapore National Open Weight lifting Championships 2019 that was held at the Bedok Stadium!

Level Gym Singapore has sponsored some athletes and i was there to capture them work their stuff! It was super cool watching them lift! Yes, it was my first time watching such a competition up close and it was pretty darn fun.

Congratulations to all participants from breaking personal records to achieving medals :)

I met Gerri and Euse when I shot the openhouse event for The Yoga Collective. I thought they really nice and took a few pictures of them while just chatting. As part of my own practice, i thought it’ll be great to invite Euse and Gerri to model for me and they were down!

Sadly, on the day of the shoot which was the F1 weekend… all the damn places i had scouted prior were blocked!! The horrors. But they were still both pretty psyched and were happy to just let me do my thing.

Decided that i would make the best of the situation and focused on expressions and poses. Was a really good experience for me having the freedom to experiment and try stuff i haven’t really done before.

Was also testing out the brand new Sony A7III… man, this camera is… and i hate to admit it as a canon fan boi… damn damn good to shoot with. Auto focus was amazing. Eye auto focus was even more amazing.

I got to meet Shannon from Shirt Number White early 2018 (or was it 2017?) from church (Redemption Hill Church). During a gathering, i learnt that he worked on his own label on the side and really liked the clothing he was creating + loved the photography he got done for his first collection.

Back then, i just started taking photography more seriously and expressed my interest to shoot with him when there is an opportunity. And this is it!

It was a superb experience (that took over 6 months from our first conversation) discussing the theme, casting for the right model… scouting for locations (what an up and down episode that was) that culminated to shooting my very first fashion type thing.

Truth be told, i think a lot (massive lot) can be done better. I learnt a lot while shooting about lighting and what not to do etc (editing was a pain because there was so much i did not setup or plan well. sigh.)

Got the chance to capture the rehearsal of Of Fish Dreaming!

I haven’t seen a full dance before and have even less exposure to contemporary dance… but damn, Christina and Aymeric were amazing! Despite this being a work in progress showing, it was dope! The music and soundscape was ace, the lighting was really well used and i loved how the dialogue was based off pop/culture and movies. haha.

Majority of the images was made with the manual focus Leica - probably one of the hardest event i have captured

In another life, circa 2010, I played with the band Indus Gendi... my band days were awesome. Was definitely and honour to jam it out with the likes of @adamshah.wav @melodiemikeng and other folks. Music was everything then. @estherlowwww was one heck of a character and I think we had plenty of fun. Fast forward 7 years later... Esther is leaving SG for greater sights! It was a blast capturing these crazy BFFs. 

I've known Ben since i was 18. Eileen and Ben makes of the very best couples i know... and are also my dearest friends. Fun free styled photoshoot to capture them in their (now, not so new, but still beautifully kInfolk-ish) abode! 

@Sneakeractual came to be when @benwilder, with his love and passion for sneakers decided to start a community celebrating all things sneaker and the soul behind it. Did a simple product type shoot for him featuring shoes he loves and most important actually wears.

A friend and amazing photographer Kai-er (Check out her work here!) introduced me to the business lady who has brought Utama Spice into Singapore.

Using all natural ingredients with a focus on products with essential oils - theres a whole range of products for multiple use. From face, to body to even sprays for yoga mats. Am using their essential oils as part of my diffuser set at home and i really like the lavender one :)

Occasional I shoot film. When i do, i don’t edit what i post. 

What you see is what the lab returns to me. Film bares my vision and technique completely. It shows me how i suck when i don’t capture what i had intended. But when i do… it rewards me with an image that brings a huge smile to my face.

A bit too abstract for me… but a few cool ideas learnt…

1. Sometimes, even when we aren’t trapped in a cage… we still hang around the areas where the cage is.

2. That place, despite being esoteric as hell… is a breath of fresh air from all the mall overly modern office buildings in Singapore.

Rachel of Utama Spice invited me to join her for The Yoga Collective’s Open House (Co-founded by Sandra of The Sam Willows).

It was really chilled with classes going on, food, relaxed atmosphere and great people! Took the opportunity to shoot this event with the Leica M1O and mostly the 28mm and 50mm lens. Really enjoyed myself! Check out the studio! Its really nicely laid out and for the ladies… the dressing area is stocked with L'Occitane products and Dyson hairdryers!

Went down with Ash to support some of her friends at the Pumpfest 2018 bouldering competition. These ladies are strong!
